The Opportunity:

Red River College is seeking a Development Manager to lead the development team and take an active role in the cultivation and solicitation of both major and planned gifts.  Reporting to the Director of College Relations, the development manager is responsible for enhancing and building upon the College’s existing fundraising capacity by developing and implementing a strategic development plan

Responsibilities include: 

·         Developing and implementing a strategic development plan that addresses major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, scholarship and bursary programs as well as a comprehensive stewardship program;

·         Providing leadership for the development staff and working closely with the marketing team, the Capital Campaign Manager and College Executives;

·         Supervising 3 staff;

·         Managing the Alumni office and working with Alumni Coordinator to develop strategic alumni plan;

·         Collaborating with Deans, Chairs and College Executive to identify key prospects in program areas;

·         Developing case statements, proposals and materials necessary for fundraising;

·         Coordinating and managing senior volunteer committees, which have been formed to fundraise for specific Capital Campaign projects;

·         Coordinating fundraising activities and prospect management with the Capital Campaign Manager;

·         Ensuring strong donor relations;

·         Enlisting and motivating volunteers for participation in major solicitations;

·         Planning, managing and coordinating private and corporate sector fundraising; and

·         Directly identifying, engaging, and cultivating prospects with major gift potential.

 

Selection Criteria:

·         A diploma or degree in a relevant field;

·         Significant experience in progressively responsible positions in a fundraising role;

·         CFRE designation an asset;

·         Demonstrated experience and success leading and managing teams;

·         Demonstrated track record of achieving financial goals & fostering relationships with new & existing donors;

·         Demonstrated success in prospect identification, relationship building, strategizing, solicitation & closing major gifts;

·         Ability to interpret policy, negotiate with corporate leaders, present College objectives persuasively, develop compelling case for philanthropic support of programs, and develop effective fundraising proposals;

·         Ability to creatively match the College’s high-priority needs with the interests of donors;

·         Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders;

·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite & database management; and

·         Experience with Raiser's Edge an asset.
