Vice-President Academic
Brief Opportunity Overview:
The University of Winnipeg is seeking a seasoned leader for the position of Vice-President Academic. Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for providing leadership, guidance, and direction to the Academic portfolio of the University, in particular the implementation of the Senate approved Academic Renewal plan, and will work collaboratively with the President and the senior executive team on issues, policies and strategies that impact the University as a whole.
Responsibilities include:
· Provide academic leadership and management for the university;
· Provide leadership for recruitment and retention of world-class, diverse faculty and staff;
· Engage in a productive, consultative relationship with faculty;
· Participate in and support development of strategies and initiatives to grow enrolment including focus on Aboriginal students, new immigrants, adult learners and enhance student diversity and access;
· Ensure sustainable operations and identify new and enhance existing sources of revenue;
· Work closely with the President and Deans towards implementing strategic priorities, vision and goals;
· Provide leadership towards continued expansion and improvement of existing programs, and development of new programming based on existing strengths in emerging areas;
· Investigate opportunities to advance teaching, pedagogical and administrative services to meet ongoing needs and accommodate student requirements;
· In accordance with the Academic Renewal plan provide visible leadership to achieve and exceed the five core outcomes of Academic Excellence, Outstanding Student Experience, Sustainable Operations, Student Diversity/Access and Community Learning;
· Undertake an active role in fundraising and perform ceremonial functions of the office; and
· Attend Board of Regents and Senate meetings, providing relevant information and advice on policy and other related matters.
Selection Criteria include:
· Must possess an earned Ph.D, experience and achievements that will command respect within and outside of The University of Winnipeg community;
· Significant academic and leadership experience, including strategic and operational planning and execution;
· Demonstrated record of achievement and excellence in teaching and research;
· Demonstrated success in actualizing operational plans and programs;
· Superior team building, communication and interpersonal skills and experience;
· Demonstrated successful financial, operational and people management experience
