The Organization:
Canada’s largest trade and industry association, the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) promotes the continuous improvement of Canadian manufacturing and exporting through engagement of government at all levels. Its mandate is to promote the competitiveness of Canadian manufacturers and enable the success of Canadian goods and services exporters in markets around the world.

The Opportunity:
The Manitoba Chapter of the CME is seeking an individual with strong manufacturing technology skills, to focus on Manitoba manufacturers (specifically SMEs), to coordinate technology information and support available from CME, federal and provincial governments, educational institutes and focus groups or clusters. The role is primarily that of promotion and guidance with respect to research into technology needs, the availability of advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment, and the linkage of the Manitoba manufacturing community with the appropriate resources.
The Position:
Reporting directly to the CME Vice President – Manitoba, the incumbent will build awareness of technology responses, consortia activity around technology, technology tours, assessments and training. Duties include:
· Supporting companies, particularly SMEs to develop strategies with respect to technology/innovations
· Be a resource on technology to the whole Manitoba manufacturing community pointing to resources such as NRC, CIC, ITC, etc. as strategic partners
· Promote/communicate technology/innovations within Manitoba manufacturing & exporting community
· Support maintenance, growth and development of a technology & innovation consortia in Manitoba including meeting attendance and facilitating strategic planning
· Market/demonstrate the need for technology and innovation including consortia
· Facilitate and support development & delivery of best practice tours showcasing companies who have demonstrated leadership in the adoption of technology or innovation
· Assist in developing and ensuring quality technology training with partners
· Regular reporting and attendance at CME meetings
· Represent CME Manitoba at events within and outside of Manitoba
Selection Criteria
· Related post secondary certification, degree or diploma; Bachelor of Engineering preferred
· 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment in a technical & manufacturing role
· Thorough manufacturing technical knowledge as well as Lean experience and training
· Ability to work closely with key organizations involved in facilitation of capital investment and technology applications
· Must have strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
· Strong collaborative skills and strong related network
