Chair of the Department of Philosophy

 

The University of Winnipeg invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be a member of the Department and serve as Chair for a three or five year term, the length of term to be mutually agreed upon by the candidate and the Search Committee.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Philosophy, and will have the necessary academic credentials to be appointed, at a minimum, as an Associate Professor. We are looking for candidates with a proven record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and research in Philosophy, and with demonstrated strong academic leadership, department governance and administrative skills. Demonstrated effective team building, communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The program offered by the Department of Philosophy is distinctive in its emphasis on a historical approach to the discipline.
