Career Opportunity

 

Located in Saskatoon and reporting to the General Manager, this is an ideal growth opportunity for someone looking to use their exemplary cost accounting skills to build, improve and manage processes and systems.  As the senior finance professional on site the role also includes responsibility for financial, inventory and business trend analysis, budget and forecasting preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, payroll administration and related duties.

 

 

Key priorities and focus for the successful candidate

  • Analyze, prepare and report on detailed cost records related to major projects (completed and in progress) including direct hours applied to jobs
  • Prepare, research, and report internally and to corporate headquarters on matters related to the annual budget, intermittent forecasts, collective agreement negotiation, etc.
  • Prepare or assist with balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, monthly reporting, inventory reconciliations and year-end audit request.
  • Lead junior staff and take responsibility for all cost accounting resources
  • Work with other areas to improve accounting and management controls
  • Document and maintain cost accounting processes and systems
  • Coordinate the physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Maintain and document internal controls 

 

Selection Criteria 

  • Related post-secondary education
  • Must have completed CMA or CGA designation, or equivalent eligibility
  • Minimum 3 years of cost accounting and financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Windows applications
  • Experience using ERP systems for manufacturing and distribution (SAP preferred)
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated self-starter
  • Proven problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Committed to customer service and a team environment is essential
